I had to write a research paper on the psychological short-term and long-term ramifications of different parenting techniques. If you fell asleep while reading that explanation, don't feel bad. It was as boring as it seems like it would be.
After 30 pages of research-based writing, I was finally able to conclude... A), Never hit your child (duh). Also, B), I have no desire to do this as a career.
I love science. I love biology. I love psychology. Those are subjects that will always be important to me. They will always be easy for me to understand. I could tutor Snooki in biology and she'd get an A. I'm going to teach Finley everything I know about these subjects, because I'm her mom and they're special to me.
But I'll be damned if I spend the next three years of school writing papers like I just wrote, pretending I want to do it for a living. Never. No.
I'm not going to spend the hours and hours of time, brainpower, and gobs of money working towards a major that I only love parts of. I WILL, however, spend all of that effort towards something that makes my soul sing, something I love dearly and will excel in... English. (Sigh.)
So, move aside, all you other MILLIONS of English/Humanities majors... Save a spot for pathetic me.
Goodbye, Biology. Hello, Pathetic.

Welcome :) It's good to have you! You'll be great don't worry. It actually still surprises me how useful English-major related jobs are. The world could definitely use your talents!
Also, I would love it if you would let me read some of your book.
I wish you all the best in that pursuit, but I still think you'd have made the world's best sex therapist...
