Starbucks: A Dilemma

There is one barista at my local Starbucks who, for the past eight months, has always tried to guess my regular. She seems hellbent on pinning me with a drink. "Are you getting the coffee frappuccino with chai?" she'll say, and I guiltily shake my head. "No, just a caramel macchiato."
Then the next time I come in, she'll be ready waiting with a smile. "Caramel macchiato, right?" And again I have to correct her. "Uh, sorry, I want a chai latte this time."
Tonight she was poised with a latte cup. "You want your regular?"
I paused and silently debated with my response. I am a regular; I don't have a regular. And therein lies a part of my personality I am pleased is developing. I am the person who orders the exact same dish at every restaurant every time. I do the same things every day. I see the same people, listen to the same songs, and when I do branch out and try something new, it's often such a huge deal to me that I shout about it from the rooftops.
This year is about doing new things for me, shifting. I still keep the same old standbys (mocha frappuccinos) because after all, they're timeless favorites for a reason. But it's perfectly acceptable that I work in new experiences (white chocolate mocha latte) because life is short--I won't be able to experience everything I want to experience, but I'll be damned if I don't try.
I politely grinned and said, "Just what is my regular?" She got the joke, put the cup down, and said, "What would you like to order?"
And suddenly my slutty Starbucks ways didn't seem so frustrating.

That being said, if Starbucks would just keep the damn caramel brulee latte all year round, I'd have a regular drink.
