Biology and Online Dating Services

About a week ago, while reading an article about the biological differences in what each gender searches for in a mate (men are primed to search for a quantity of mates, so they can spread their seed and guarantee as many descendants as possible, while women are primed to search for one quality mate who will stay and help them raise these descendants), I realized I should re-open my OKCupid dating profile.

I thought I'd share a few of the more heartfelt messages I've received in my inbox with you, and therefore get some positive reinforcement about my decision to be picky and find a "quality mate."

From BoredOfDating47: hi.

From toby4875: hi. how do you do i'm JEFF.

From AlwayzWilling: hey gorgeous, how bout u let me make u happy for 2nite.

From buttholesurfer: beautiful i would do anything 4 u.

From freak_no_leash: hey gurl, how are you? talk to me sometime, you seem awesome, maybe we can grab frozen yogurt sometime.

From what_me_worry: hey, sorry to ask, but what is your bust size? it's for a thing at school.

From metal_slug76: Would you consider giving me a lock of your hair? No contact necessary, you can just mail it to me.

From DebonairDude: Someone stole my heart and you are the top suspect!

From Cuddly_Chris: I would love to see if you're as precious on the inside as you are on the outside. I'm a geeky ballroom dancer, what do you think of that combination?

Anyone out there interested in any of these gems? I'll hook you up real quick.

OH...GOOD...GOD. And my husband and his brothers were always so surprised when I told them that any girl would be lucky to get one of them. This reminds me of every bad date I've ever, ever been on. That was most of them, by the way...
