My mother homeschooled me in the wonderful ways true Republican, moral virtue. I ended up a flaming moderate with liberal tendencies who marches in gay pride parades. On the flip side, I learned to read when I was 2 years old sooooooo.....
No offense intended for anyone, but I've never met a homeschooled kid who wasn't just a little "off" socially. As adults they tend to right themselves, but as kids and teens, well, something just doesn't compute there. I absolutely, firmly believe that they NEED that socialization...even if that socialization is just a lot of heartbreak. That isn't an excuse to NOT supplement their education - a kid like Fin will be bored to death by first grade and need the outside-of-school stimulation - but I just couldn't let me child flounder in their social and emotional development by allowing them to be that sheltered. My 2 cents...which is about all it's worth.

there's an "of" in that sentence somewhere. You just can't see it...
