Clear the Roads

Tonight, driving nonchalantly home from the American Fork Hospital region, I was pulled over by a policeman. I was completely confused. I wasn't speeding, texting, or tailgating. The cop explained that I had weaved in and out of a lane, and he asked me to step out of the car, put my finger to my nose, and the other one on my head while standing on one foot. Flamingo stance.
I did it just fine, and he let me back into the car. He saw Finley, and asked, "New mom?"
I confirmed by nodding. "Single mom," I added, completely playing the pity card.
He laughed. "So you're not drunk, you're tired."
Yes! I laughed back. "You have no idea, sir."
He let me go with a warning, told me to get some coffee in me or get some rest.
I took that as a legal command to buy myself a chai tea latte. And the whole time I drank it, I thought, "Yes, sir. Just doing what that cop told me to do. Or else I could go to jail for exhausted mommy driver."

Makes me wish I could get pulled over every day.
