Happy Easter, Stinkies

Scene: a Target in Sandy

Players: My mother, me age 10, Hannah age 7, my mom's sister Annie

Begin.

We're in Target, with Annie, shopping. It's just after Easter, and we're walking up and down the aisles when we all notice a horrifying smell, putrid, disgusting. We laugh about it, move to the next aisle, and notice it's lingering. "Did you fart?" we all kept asking each other. And the smell followed us around the store.

Annie and my mom were gagging. I was giggling, because all kids think gross smells are kind of funny. Suddenly Hannah cries, "My egg!"

Hannah, for a first grade Easter craft, had decorated hard-boiled eggs in their little egg cartons, a la Humpty Dumpty. Annie had picked her up for school, and the egg had somehow gotten into Annie's jacket's pocket... a week ago!

The egg was, of course, in the jacket pocket, cracked and rotting.

And that's my favorite Easter memory.

It's the gagging part that really got me laughing, God bless your mom and aunt!
