Easy to Be Hard from Hair
One of my favorite moments from one of my favorite movies. I love the Three Dog Night version, but there's something about this actress' voice. This woman had never acted or sang professionally. She was working as a maid in the hotel where they had auditions. She sang this song once, just like this, and they cast her on the spot.
What a gorgeous message, too. We've only gotten harder since the 60s. How much passion would be in her voice if she sang it now?
