Today I'm grateful for:
My family, whom I genuinely count as my best friends in life
Long-lost relatives all gathering this week for celebrating Turkey Day and the pending birth of a little pink meatloaf
Delicious food and drink like Pomegranate 7UP, clementines, sourdough bread, clam chowder... to name a few
Big, brown velvety robes from Costco to waddle around the house in
A stretch of about 20 hours without a single contraction--makes me anxious, but also makes me remember comfort
Pointless trivia games that get my blood boiling
Good non-fiction books by A.J. Jacobs to distract me from my cares
Spider Solitaire
These last few moments before my daughter is born to soak in life and remember what it's like to just be me. I'm so anxious for her birth--partly because I know labor will be so excruciating that having it put off and put off and put off makes me nervous and drives me nuts... But these final days are sweet... precious... unforgettable: the waddling, the heartburn, the groin pains, the exhaustion... So funny, so endearing. They'll be fantastic to look back on when she's here...
IF SHE EVER GETS HERE.
Just kidding. She'll be here when she wants to be. Probably right when she can be in the center of attention, like as my mother carves the bird tomorrow, or when we're all in line for Black Friday sales. After all, she is my daughter.
